As an emerging designer, my work is inspired by joy, beauty and celebration - I thrive on the challenge of creating the extraordinary and I aspire to timeless design that invokes surprise, wonderment and captivation.

 

The ’10% Pledge'

I pledge to use my creative talents as an opportunity for making significant contributions towards climate and social change initiatives.

My intention is that my work goes far beyond just offsetting its carbon footprint; it pledges at least 10% of all sales will be donated to carefully selected initiatives and enterprises that really invest in making a difference in pioneering healthy change for people and planet. 

Its time we start prioritising the impact and cost, historic and present, of what we do into what what we do. Its hard to weigh these costs up specifically, and often its only broadly allotted at 1-2% of production costs, but I want to build in the foundation of what I do a minimum 10% of the retail sales value, which will hopefully serve as an inspiration for others to consider the same degree of re-investment in social and planet welfare.

My first collection will raise £30,000 to be pledge to the following initiatives;

 

 

Powers proof-backed sustainability communications. Their tech enables brands and retailers to communicate social and environmental impact with shoppers online and in-store - authenticating supply chain data and third-party proof. By doing so, Provenance enables shoppers to drive progress through what they buy and generates rewards for those brands making a positive impact on people and planet.

The consumer goods sector is the largest driver of social and environmental exploitation. This B Corp enterprise enables systemic change to commerce through transparency in the supply chain. Funds will be used to support their free and open source Framework which enables brands to make social and environmental claims that are credible and consistent about their products.

A lack of actionable information and an increase in ‘greenwashing’ mean that consumers are unable to shop in line with their true values, and brands making real progress on sustainability aren’t getting the exposure needed to influence the change needed. There’s no sustainability without transparency - Provenance is informing consumer choice with a level of transparency never seen before.

 

A non-profit CIC dedicated to planting trees and reforesting degraded landscapes with support from a network of artists and musicians, as well as businesses and individuals working to become carbon-positive.

Their main project is in the Carpathian mountains in Romania as it contains some of the largest tracts of old-growth forest left in Europe, and is home to wolves, brown bear, lynx and over a third of all European plant species. They are also developing partnerships with tree planting and forest education initiatives in the UK, currently working on transforming 1,000 acres of grazing land into a haven for wildlife on a site in Devon.

Carbon sequestration through responsible, sustainable tree planting is a key component in addressing the climate crisis and protecting our planet, especially when done in tandem with rebuilding wildlife corridors and protecting biodiversity havens.

 

A UK charity that works with young men caught up in the criminal justice system, providing the support needed to make the transition to an adulthood free of crime, and filled with a sense of belonging, connection and purpose.

The organisation was born out of concern at the continuing escalation of self-destructive and anti-social behaviour among young men from every section of society. One of the key methods is through creating, mentoring and supporting contemporary rites of passage for adolescents; inviting young men to draw a line and begin to both consider and move towards becoming the adult man they wish to be. The journey is held and guided by trained older men from the local community.

It is vital young men are immersed in a strong field of healthy masculinity and role models; the charity draws upon a vast pool of life experience and wisdom to provide a safe space for men to heal and develop into their true identity in the world.
